Background information: on Hoop Dancing!
Everyone remembers the hula-hoop craze of the 50’s, many of us probably from first hand experience. Well it’s back, only this time in an all new way! Hoops (drop the hula) have been making mainstream fitness inroads in being the best toy with which to get fit!
Everyone from Curves to Cheerwine are getting in on the trend.
Hoop dancing can seem to be more of a dance than a fitness routine.
Using a specially made hoop wrapped with colorful circus tape, we teach you how to twirl it not only around the hips as is traditional, but also over head, vertically and in progressively harder tricks.
In addition to expressing creativity in this “dance” the hooper must also develop coordination, balance, flexibility and strength to execute the tricks smoothly. Sounds like a good way to define fitness!
Most people agree that hoop dancing is just plain fun! Learning to spin the hoop takes practice and concentration, also relieving stress. The user only need execute the tricks he or she is comfortable with and so is able to adjust to the level appropriate for him/her.
My little friend really enjoyed hoop Dancing at the Library.
